a conceptual playground and a digital tool to augment reality with imaginaries of the future

The Swamp Observatory AR app is a conceptual playground and a digital tool to augment reality with imaginaries of the future time, materials and species. Suggested as an artistic intervention into the planning process of the new sustainable city in the former regimental area on Gotland island in the Baltic sea, the AR app is developed in collaboration with Atheneskolan pupils and teachers. During art and music classes children contributed to creating of eco-monsters as emergent ecology of the new climate commons, imagined in the planned stormwater ponds in Visborg.

Nomeda & Gediminas Urbonas (concept and development) in collaboration with pupils from Atheneskolan Gotland (drawings and sounds), Indrė Umbrasaitė (modeling), Kristupas Sabolius (script), Mouse on Mars (sound compositions), Terry T Kang and Thomas Harriett (programming). Commissioned by Public Art Agency Sweden and BAC – Baltic Art Center. Supported by the Lithuanian Council for Culture and MIT Center for Art, Science & Technology. Powered by Hoverlay
